I think is amazing how supporting and understanding you are trying to be, however I must say that I don't understand how curiosity or wanting to explore his sexuality would have that level of emotional impact. Like, I understand that desire, but what I don't understand is it getting to the point of causing anger and resentment between the two of you.

thank you for this. I agree that this has a lot to do with his dad, whom would have never approved of his sexuality. I think that now that he has passed, my boyfriend feels he can be who he wants to be without disappointing anybody.

It sounds like he’s got a lot of shame to break down. He already has a therapist so you might want to encourage him to bring up sexuality to his therapist to realize that his sexuality is nothing to be ashamed about.

I think I would be open to letting him explore his curiosities while we’re still together but it would take a lot of communication and trust. I think that couples therapy is definitely on the table for us. I wish I knew a way to make him feel less shame and guilt surrounding his desires… I truly feel like he was repressing them because he was afraid of what his dad would think. I think that now that he has passed, there’s nobody to disappoint anymore and the thought of it is much more present now.
