Today we finished out canvassing the entire Richmond district with info on how to keep SF clean.
Warrior fans and any San Franciscans with any pride, are we going to let this trash talk go unchecked?
Incredible kickoff to 2025 with over 1,000 volunteers coming out citywide to pick up trash and litter thanks to support from Daniel Lurie and Civic Joy Fund! It's our collective responsibility to take care of SF and our environment, so the challenge is to sustain this effort. Keep showing up!
We’re starting to plant the seeds of our Guerrilla Gardening efforts to green unloved plots in SF
Ocean Beach cleanup this morning with a corporate group. Sadly, had to wrestle this plastic bottle away from a crow that was trying to fly off with it. Just another reason to help clean the environment and protect the animals.
Nothing scarier than trash on the streets.
Out on Haight Street this morning with volunteer Paul, working out this pressure washing setup that we hope to add to our cleanup efforts. Labor intensive, but the results are spectacular. More to come on this front…
Little random act of kindness - cleared the planter boxes in front of Salvation Army on Geary and planted these succulents. Small way to say thanks for what they do for the community.
Finished clearing the medians along Fulton St of dirt, weed, and debris. Several week project to get these dozen cleaned out. A small thing, but goes a long way towards a clean and cared for neighborhood.
Rain (on Saturday) or shine (on Sunday), San FrancisCANs were out in our neighborhoods, parks, and beaches to clear 300+ trash bags full of litter. We're out here to "Do something!" about our dirty streets and invite everyone to join the action. https://refuserefusesf.org/
Neither the non-emergency police line nor 311 did anything about this today. Guess we’re supposed to shut up and live with it?
This past weekend's cleanups helped us reach yet another milestone - 3,000 cleanups organized and 700,000 gallons of trash removed from San Francisco streets, parks, and beaches. We're doing things, so let's keep doing this thing!
At Trader Joe’s, spotted and learned Reiko has been cleaning for the past 7 years. She was inspired from her pilgrimage along the Camino de Santiago and how clean the towns along the way were, and was disgusted with how dirty SF is. She has definitely earned the right to wear the Green Shirt!
Excited to announce we’ve adopted Battery Chester at Fort Miley with the National Parks Service to rehab it. Every Thursday from 10a-12p we’ll be cleaning, painting, and landscaping to make it a safe and inviting place for the public and Vets from the VA to enjoy. Come lend a hand!
Our campaign reached another bitter-sweet milestone - over 660,000 gallons of trash removed from San Francisco neighborhoods, parks, and beaches. Enough to fill an Olympic-sized swimming pool. Give that a thought while watching the swimming events in Paris this summer.
This isn’t news, it’s just what we do.
Balaji Srinivasan, VC pushing dystopian vision of SF, gets a crowd but produces a dud. Talk emphasizes world historical importance of Bitcoin; ‘Like a lifestyle brand,’ one attendee said
For tapestries of Bay Area street life, Dance Doyle weaves a world. Artist channels interviewees'—and their own—experiences with houselessness, addiction onto the loom.
Real estate made this prominent San Francisco family rich. Now, it’s tearing them apart. The Mosser siblings are fighting over control of their father's business
If anyone was downtown yesterday afternoon, you got a front row seat to what a 200 person cleanup looks like. Organized by @handsonbayarea, employees from @Visa @Gap @jpmorgan @LEVIS @WellsFargo fanned out from Embarcadero Plaza to clean up. Big thanks to all!
What movies should I watch to get into less accessible movies?
Big thanks to Hunter Pence and Lexi Pence for highlighting some amazing local orgs helping to protect the environment. Great Q&A where we learned about the great work of Friends of the Urban Forest, SF Baykeeper, and Save The Bay. Key takeaway: everyone can help make a difference!
Team Masonic doing what we do. 7 volunteers including regulars and two students from Sacred Heart Cathedral Prepatory helping out on their spring break. With all the rain, weeds have exploded. Cleared 2 of 4 medians at Masonic and Euclid. More to be done over the coming weeks.
I'm tired San Francisco
Humbled to be part of the Jefferson Awards. So many champions for good here in the Bay Area. Sister Christina Heltsley transformed an entire neighborhood to serve low-income, immigrant families. Lauren Huffmaster turned her cancer diagnosis into helping others in their own battles. Inspirational!
