When I attach spearheads, I usually just get it to a tight fit (maybe what you have from the sounds of it) and then repeatedly just hold the spear 6 inches from the ground, drop it on it’s butt, and repeat. You should be able to do the same with this. (Of course do it one section at a time, both may be too much to handle)

It's been forever so I may remember this imperfectly but there's an option in EEKeeper where you can mess with this. You have to change the ViconiaRomanceActive tab to 1(friendly) or 2(romance active) if it's at 3(romance dead). Then under the character tab there's a flag lovetalk and you need to lower that number by 2 to get to the prior interaction.
