Am I crazy? I'm charged interest on the whole balance, not just the amount spent?

Crazy right now... I'm charged interest on the balance of the whole credit card right... not just the amount spent during the month? It's the amount UP until the month... is that right?... f*** did i forfeit the grace period... do i need a new credit card? O_O
