What was it about World of Warcraft that was considered such an addictive game?
Hey, I wanted to bring up a rather interesting and perhaps somewhat forgotten topic here. It's possible that I'm the only one who's noticed it, but I remember there was a time when World of Warcraft was considered one of the most addictive games in the world, and this narrative has gone pretty mainstream. E.g. the famous episode of South Park. I'm from Poland and to this day I remember watching a YouTube video that was a complication of forum posts in which female partners described how addicted this game made their partners and they don't know what to do with it next and their relationship is breaking down. Also, there was another video that showed what addiction leads to and that a young boy died in a car accident, and just before he died, his entire life flashed before his eyes, most of which was sitting in front of a computer and playing WoW. I don't know if it's just me who came across such content, but I have a feeling that at one time the narrative and conviction that WoW is an extremely addictive game was really big, especially on the Internet. Have you guys also encountered something like this?
