$6k budget, reliability before everything else

Family friend wants a car for their new driver. They don’t have a lot of money and the kid will be paying the car insurance. She totaled her first car 6 months ago so her driving record for an 18 year old is terrible.

No fancy features. Roll up windows okay. No AC okay. Reliable and cheap, nothing else.

The Camry above has only 72k original problems. I know with vehicles this age they can run into problems with things dry rotting due to age, but with their budget I don’t know what else to recommend.

We live in the northeast so rust is also a concern. Also makes insurance and cars more expensive.

The kicker is they don’t want to travel to look at a car over 30 minutes or go across state lines. Not a lot to pick from around here.

Do your best…
