Afternoon teas that are worth it

EDIT: I ended up going to Cafe Royal and everything was decadent! Impeccable service, unlimited refills on food and teas and they encouraged us to try as many types as we desired. Their festive Christmas blend was our favorite. Scones were warm and delicious. The only downside was the hotel and cafe were not as festively decorated as I would’ve hoped. So for a festive tea experience I would say it was an 8/10 for value. I would plan ahead and dish out for Claridge’s or Savoy next time.

Thoughts on some other places mentioned here:

F&M - I actually did find last minute openings here, but ended up canceling because of some poor reviews on the food recently. I did stop by to shop and it is very festive, but it was so chaotic I don’t have regrets. But for those interested, just keep checking their reservation page!

The Swan at the Globe - We walked by and it seemed really nice! More of a modern feel. I would consider in the future.

Corinthia - Our friends just did this and loved it. Very airy and chic, seemingly more food, and they got some complimentary jams to go.

Hope this helps other redditors in the future!

Last minute trip to London this weekend though Tuesday! Unfortunately the top suggestions like Ritz, Claridge’s, F&M are all booked, as expected.

Any suggestions for other luxury afternoon teas that are worth it, or the best value for vibe and quality? Especially if anyone has visited recently.

I don’t have a budget, but I also don’t want to waste money on crappy food and service.

I’m hoping for a nice place with a festive menu so it feels special. However I saw bad reviews about the food and service at some top tier places (how it’s not worth the price tag etc), so I looked at some mid range places too, but a lot of them lack the wow factor in terms of vibe. So I’m very conflicted.

Some places I’m considering, welcome your thoughts as well:

  • Corinthia
  • Cafe Royal
  • L’Oscar
  • Park Room at Grosvenor House
  • Mirror Room at Rosewood
  • Jumeirah Carlton Tower
  • Theatre Royal Drury Lane
  • Sketch - on the fence about this one, it’s cute but I worry it’s past its prime
  • Swan at the globe - food looks great but seems to just be a restaurant
  • Royal Albert Hall - same as above
  • Dalloway Terrace - was seriously considering this but their festive menu is almost identical to the regular menu and they are charging 50% more for it.. so I’m not inclined

Thanks in advance!
