Really Strange Bug (feature?) I've discovered about the R-6P Softball
Trust me I know the video is really long but pls trust me it gets funny.
So the other day I was playing Frontier Defense, and when I was trying to eliminate a group of Mortar Spectres, I noticed my Softball grenades kept bouncing off the Spectres, which was odd. After re-watching the moment, I noticed they weren't bouncing off the Spectres, but rather, the ground they were standing on.
Later, I loaded up a private match to do some experimenting. Sure enough, when shot at this specific roof tile texture on the Black Water Canal map, Softball grenades do not stick to the ground the way they're supposed to, they actually bounce right off! And if you shoot them straight down, they bounce for a moment and then stay where they are, unexploded. They also do not despawn once in this state, and will only explode if they at any point touch zoneable terrain nearby, or are moved to zoneable terrain by a Gravity Star.
I'm not sure this has been discovered before, as from what I've seen there's been no documentation on it in the TitanFall subreddit, but surely in the nearly ten years this game has been active, someone has to have discovered this bug before, right?
Additional fun notes from my experimentation:
• Scorch's Thermite Barrels despawn immediately if they land on this surface • No effect on Pulse Blades, Tone's sonar, Satchel Charges, Firestars, Frag Grenades, Arc Grenades, or Electric Smoke Grenades. • Northstar's Tether Traps can't land here, instead they bounce around and get stuck. • Weapons that can ricochet their rounds cannot ricochet off this specific surface • Gravity Stars behave the same way here, if you throw them at an angle they'll bounce, and if you throw one straight down, it'll bounce a little, and then stay where it is once it lands, undetonated, until it either drifts into a zoneable spot, or gets flung into a zoneable spot by another Gravity Star. • Unknown whether or not Ion's Laser Tripwire is affected by this, seemingly no feasible way to launch one up there. • Projectiles from the Kraber, Wingman Elite, EPG-1, EM-4, SMR, Mozambique, Mastiff, D2 Doubletake, and L-STAR are not affected by this bug, and behave as normal.
I am curious to know whether or not this is a new discovery, albeit a pointless and unimportant one.
I will see if I can find any funny uses for this, other than the sheer spectacle of it.
