Tinnitus from shooting

Hey guys, im a little bit concerned as my career requires me to have decent hearing.

I went shooting for the first time with some buddies, they are all experienced shooters. It was my first (and probably only time) shooting. i probably shot off maybe 25 rounds? There was some ringing but I figured maybe thats normal for this sort of thing (like an idiot). I didnt want to be the guy who killed the mood by saying im going to wait outside. Now its been 40 hours and my hearing has mostly returned but there is an unrelenting ringing. Im 24 and for the most part have been decent about taking care of my ears so im a bit frustrated with this. After some googling the conclusion says it could be temporary it could not. What do you guys think?

I was wearing hearing protection, it was some plugs i have a feeling they didnt seal properly
