Abandonment
I am in disbelief. I have stepped away from therapy and I work as a supervisor for a case management program. It has minimal client contact and supports me with managing my burnout. I had a staff tell me that her client was abandoned by her therapy and psychiatrist via text message with only 1 pill of her medication left. The message stated that they didn’t take her insurance anymore and gave her a resource to the local behavioral health. When she attempted to at least get a new script until she can connect with someone else. They told her it would be $150 to speak to them. When did this kind of behavior become acceptable?? When has this ever been best practice? I would see if the client was stable but she’s about her lose her house, battling with panic attacks. She should have been handled with care. Idk maybe I practice different. I’ve always informed my clients in advance about insurance changed and termination. Im finding this is happening often to people. Just out of no where ending services. People are wondering why folks are running to the board. Client care is important. We need to be mindful.
