Tips/questions for beginner mood blanket
Update: thinking of weekly granny squares or maybe hexagons with one round for each day. Anyone have tips or patterns for this?

Hello! I'm looking to make my first blanket as a mood tracker rather than temperature.
I'm a beginner crocheter! I've only made very simple e.g. scarfs, granny square but I want the commitment to a bigger project to keep me accountable.
I'm going through a really big breakup and like the idea of tracking my mood as well as having something to focus on/a new evening routine.
Some questions:
My main question is I can't decide what style e.g. to do a single straight row each day (it seems like moss stitch is popular?) or to do a small granny square or hexagon each day. I prefer how granny square ones look but I want to keep it manageable and I don't want a really really huge blanket. Any advice on the different challenges of both?
I'd like to be able to do multiple colours a day but not sure if this is just overcomplicated and I should just do one for how I feel at the time of crochet.
Do you think this will be too overwhelming as a beginner project?
Any recommendations for type of yarn?
Any other tips?
Current categories/moods and colours I'm thinking of (bearing in mind it's a heartbreak one lol) - Depressed/sad - dark blue - Flat/meh - light blue/grey - Angry/overwhelmed - dark red - Motivated/productive/energetic - orange - Peaceful/content - yellow or green - Happy/excited - yellow or green
