Need advice/Inspiration for a design

If this can't be posted here please redirect me, this seems to be the least strict tattoo community I can find.

Hoping to make this a general discussion. I'm planning to get a memorial tattoo for my dog and I'm not sure how I want the design to be. If you have a pet memorial tattoo feel free to share I would love some inspiration. I am planning on designing it myself and I'm not sure weather to do a drawing of all of him, just a portrait or stamp his paw print ect.

Would love the inspiration/advice but my main question would be, would you recommend me design it myself (i am a traditional artist -paper) , or would it be better for me to let the artist design it?
