Help me replace my Jura A1

After 5 years, I’m sick of getting our A1 repaired - we’ve now spent as much repairing it as we did on the machine itself, and it’s started being fussy again and we’ve decided we won’t repair it when it fully gives up. Looking for a balance of cost and quality.

• we only drink espresso and black coffee, no need for milk drinks. We really like the espresso the A1 makes (when it’s working) and would like something comparable in quality

• would prefer a small footprint

• want to stay under $2k but could go over for a machine that has significantly better longevity and lower cost of ownership

We are in the US.

In a fantasy world, I’d get something basically exactly like the A1 except that it worked better and not a black box machine, under $1k, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
