Parapsychology books

I am really interested in the concepts of telepathy and knowing about the psychic powers. I've seen some books that entail the practical teaching of experts, the influence of the mind and such. Has anybody actually read these kinds of books? Are they worth the time ? More importantly if you have practiced the methods are they legit do they actually work?
