Suggest me some great "undiscovered" artists

I guess this counts as a new year's resolution! I want to discover new and unexpected artists, preferably "undiscovered" ones (those with low listening counts, etc.)

While I am more of a metalhead, any genre will do. Suggest away!

EDIT 2: wow, I didn't expect to get so many awesome recs! Already started listening, discovered some great stuff. I WILL listen to them all. :)
