After following speedrunning at a distance for a while, how come the community is so LGBTQ-friendly?

Hi!

After a few years of watching both various speedrunning streamers and events such as ESA and GDQ, I am still amazed and surprised about how open and inclusive the community is in general, but especially towards LGBTQ people.

How come this is the seeming outliers to internet and gaming culture in general (with a few exceptions).

Dont get me wrong, i think this is great and i wish more places were like this, but how come it is like this in speedrunning in particular?
