So, what games released in 2024 would you consider the speedrun games of the year or its top candidates?

Something you'd consider to be great to speedrun or watch speeduns of? Runs that are very improvable, have high ceiling, have little downtime, are fun to run, don't rely on frustration and circumstances beyond player's control to succeed, don't have strategies that make the game boring etc.

I have following candidates:

Volgarr the Viking II:

Great points: Solid movement. Lots of small tricks and techniques you can use to improve your time. Many cycle-based obstacles aren't binary "can make it/can't make it". The levels are a test of endurance but in a good way.
Some negatives: Downtime is about 20 seconds per level, starting from defeating the boss and gaining control on the next level (with a few seconds of you being in control). This is somewhat mitigated by having the levels much longer than its predecessors. Also, you're never going that fast.

Echo Point Nova:

Great points: Its movement allows tons of room for improvement and it flows well, people who mastered movement go really fast, pacing is almost immaculate (from the overall perspective and moment-to-moment gameplay). Menuing is instantaneous which is necessary since you sometimes do swap weapons or add perks. 100% runs make you go and explore every part of the world, dialogue is in in-game screens and entirely skippable. 100%ing weapon masteries can be done "on the fly" with no grinding required.
A few downsides: There is a minute-long credits sequence after defeating the final boss (for those going for 100%, having 1 minute of downtime per 2 hours of run). Currently, I don't know how much does the RNG factor into 100% runs. Also, hypothetical "no fast travel" category would improve the flow of the run even further. Also, might have "dominant strategies" potential but we'll see.

Yellow Taxi Goes Vroom:

Great points: Imagine if in Super Mario 64, you don't get booted out every time you grab a star, and animation of grabbing a star takes about 1.5 seconds (since you can speed up those animations). Just like Super Mario 64, it has great movement with lots of little techniques to make you go fast. The text is fast, etc. Even cycle-based obstacles make you wait much less. Its screen transitions are also snappier, making the flow of the run better.
Some negatives: There's a minute-long credits sequence for runners doing post-game content. Also, 100% runs involve CCG (common collectible grind), something Astro Bot is also guilty of. But at least "All Gears" category makes up for it. Also, there's still a bit of downtime between worlds (about a dozen second per every main world).

And, most of all:

Gimmick! 2:

Great points: Interesting movement. Its main gimmick provides tons of little tricks to improve your run. Every category provides its own challenges, the developers actually like watching speedruns of this game. The length is great for runners of all categories. Pacing is amazing, very little downtime and most of it are rather snappy 1-second long door entering animations.
Some negatives: There's a short autoscrolling section near the end for those going for true end or 100% category. Nothing much else.

So which 2024 games did you enjoy speedrunning and watching speedruns of?
