Champions of Hara: Mage Knight-like dreamworld puzzley adventure
A rare kind of adventure games which is essentially a puzzle. Hara could be called a younger sibling of Mage Knight: not nearly as heavy weight, much more friendly rules and session length. It is based on hand management, too, however here bottom effects of actions cards can be used not by empowering cards for mana, but the next turn after using it: cards rotate, so you can plan what to do ahead. There are several modes (sadly there is very limited number of scenarios for each character) - coop/competitive/solo - to choose from as well,
Hara has depth, too - not as much, of course. And wonderfully illustrated thematic (sadly extremely rare) dreamworld setting. As well as characters (which by the way are much more unique than in MK), monsters, locations, bosses, nice lore... Everything looks so beautiful.
On the other hand, Hara is much more random than MK - mainly due to mechanics of world shifting - i.e. regular swapping parts of the board, which can really screw your plans, but there is also dice rolling for events success and some other elements.
And you have relatively few action cards and combinations available compared to MK. No big epic battles like city assaults or battle with Volkare either.
Overall Hara is almost a kind of simpler, faster mini Mage Knight. "Almost", because feels significantly differently. Good choice if one likes thematic puzzles and does not mind flaws listed above.
