Finding my voice

i’m wondering if anyone has any good tips or advice on how to find my voice? I’ve realize when I play covers and such, I end up just trying to imitate the original singer. I’ve tried to do my own voice, but I don’t feel comfortable in any range. Can I just not sing well or am I missing something? How do folks figure out what range they are or find their singing voice in general?
