Fanatec Pedals

I have the Fanatec Clubsport Pedals V3 and need some advice on brake pedal feel. I’ve used them how they’re setup out of the box for most of my sim racing days. But recently decided to try the brake performance kit and now I feel stuck with how to get the feel of the pedal right. The stock option feels too mushy now that I’ve tried the BPK and the softest combination feels too stiff. It feels as if I have no feel of the brakes at either setting. What have you all tried to get the best out of these pedals?

FYI: The pedals just sit on the floor. I do not have a rig to “mount” them as I’ve wondered how much that really matters for optimal performance.
