Selling manufactured enamel pins
Hello all!
I'm curious if anyone else has trying creating and selling enamel pins? They have become quite popular...some people collect everything, but most have a certain type that they go for.
I have created three pins and I purchased them outright (100 of each), so there is no Kickstarter/fundraising element to this. However, two of the pins use copyrighted material and I don't want to do that anymore. They continue to sell on Etsy and eBay and I'll keep that going until the inventory is gone. The 3rd pin is my original work, and I used AI to help generate ideas and an actual mockup, then had the manufacturer turn the image into a vector graphic for production. However, this 3rd pin is political and both Etsy and eBay have removed it, so it's now cold inventory.
I am seeking advice as to how to grow this into something legitimate. I did graphic art for awhile but creating pins with the metal separation is a very different way of designing. What I'm considering is getting good mockups done and doing a Kickstarter campaign with stretch goals and really flesh it all out. That will take time to create something good but after packaging and production costs, I usually make 5-6 bucks per pin and when you sell 50-100, that's not bad.
