Idiopathic Epileptic Seizure Update
After her first seizure in December, she had another seizure (stayed conscious, lasted 30-60 seconds, I recorded the entire session because I was playing tennis ball with her and I take dozens of photos and videos of her everyday) in January. We keep track of her seizure sessions and visited a vet her trainer recommended (he has been bringing his dogs to the vet for decades) . The vet suggested we keep on monitoring, because her seizures didn’t last too long, and the second seizure was more mild than the first one, no need for medication yet. She’s doing well playing fetch (indoor), walking in cold weather, and regaining appetite ( just a little bit). These two seizures happened after we ran out of her favorite homemade salmon topper (we buy salmon with skin and cook till crispy) and she went on hunger strike for like two days. Before her seizures, we let her finish her food at her own pace, but now we make sure she doesn’t go on fasting for too long. When she feels like fasting she won’t even eat steak, lamb chop meat, chicken, duck (all unseasoned, cooked specifically for her). She’s the pickiest eater we’ve ever met. I grew up with Beagles(literal vacuums), Irish Setter, Toy Poodle(pretty picky). So far 5+ weeks without seizure 💪. Thanks for everyone’s ❤️ and support🤝. We were thinking about switching her insurance from PetsBest to other company. We received her renewal quote before her seizures and it was around 50% increase from last year. (But the reimbursement was pretty fast for our case, which really helped 🙏. )I guess after the incidents, we are stuck with this insurance (don’t want to risk transferring to a new company and got denied for coverage for pre-existing conditions) .
