My struggle with abdominal pain possibly caused by cannabis.

Hi all, I also posted this in r/CHSinfo but I thought I'd post here too as this is a much more active subreddit.

I've been a heavy daily smoker for about 5 years (I'm 23M). In October of last year I started getting a dull achey pain in my left side in-line with my belly-button that would get worse throughout the day. I am otherwise healthy with no other issues. I hadn't at any point thought that it could be caused by my cannabis consumption. Dr said it was gastritis and since then I've been eating low-acidic foods and taking omeprazole which hasn't really helped. The last 6 months have been horrible and the constant pain had really taken a toll on my mental health.

A few weeks ago I didn't smoke for a couple of days for unrelated reasons and my pain started to get a bit better. Then when I smoked or ate edibles again it got worse. I hadn't considered cannabis being the cause but I've not smoked in about a week now and the pain has almost completely disappeared.

I've not felt this good in so long and I'm more than prepared to never smoke again if it means my pain is gone. I'm so fucking happy that I'm not in pain right now. My current plan is to take a break for a few months and if my pain is still gone then I'll give it another go and see what happens.

I've been researching why stopping smoking has helped and I found out about CHS but not much else is popping up. I don't have nausea or vommiting, just a stabbing/gnawing pain (the best way I've been able to describe it to my Dr/friends is it's like I've grown a tooth in my side that's poking and stabbing my organs) and I haven't noticed hot showers making a difference so I'm really not sure if it's CHS. Does anyone know what could be going on? I'm happy to answer any questions for clarity in the comments. I am planning to talk to my Dr about the new discovery at some point but they've not been very helpful and are pretty adamant that it's gastritis (I've had no tests/examinations done as due to Covid I can only get phone consultations).

Thanks for taking the time to read this, any thoughts/comments are greatly appreciated.
