is my bf going to be arrested later on?

(crossposted) for starters, we live in texas. my (22f) boyfriend (25m) was pulled over today. he handed over the 2 marijuana vape cartridges he had on him, and the cop said they'd test them in the lab to see how much the was in them, and the DA would decide whether or not to arrest him from there. he's also already been arrested before, back in 2020 for the same thing. i guess i'm just wondering if anything ever comes from this, if the DA actually pursues it or if it's just a thing the cop said to make him sweat about it. if he does get arrested, what can we expect/what should we do? after being together for 4 years i JUST moved in with him, so of course this happens now. grateful for any advice or answers you guys can give.

edit: looks like i didn’t specify- he wasn’t on probation for the first run-in. he went through a drug-court program for almost a year, which got the first charge dropped. also, he was pulled over for an expired registration, which he was let off with a warning for. the cops claimed to have smelled the weed, which is when they asked if he had anything on him, and then he handed them over.
