What is up with preference towards girls?

FTM, we have just found out we are expecting a boy and we are over the moon to have healthy little boy soon❤️ We would be equally happy for the girl but there was truly no gender preference. But oh boy what is up with people around since we started to share we are expecting a son!? Even if they don’t tell directly I feel some kind of disappointment in them? ( not all of them but I would say most). Like if we all now supposed to prefer girls. Like if having a girl is some kind of blessing and boy is just meh..I feel I am almost explaining myself sometimes that I am actually very happy and always wanted to have at least one son ( it’s true) and then they (especially women) are surprised how woman could want a boy!? Parents expecting sons, do you experience the same? For the context we live in Western Europe.
