Questionable prescription from elderly doctor

This 60 something year old doctor who has been allegedly practicing as a doctor for a few decades already, with a PRC license number starting with 013(meaning he passed the boards around 2017) prescribed this for a dengue patient. Methylprednisolone 16mg/tab, 5 tabs in AM , 4 tabs in PM for 5 days. Wow. Just wow. Asked the patient what the doctor said the meds are for. It was to "increase the platelet count". Kawawa naman ang pasyente. It's not the first time I saw questionable prescriptions from this doctor.
