Refreshed live board and a lesson learned
I love my Boss IR-2. I think it sounds GREAT in headphones and the stereo effects loop is really neat. But! I learned that even though I could adjust the output to be suited for the input of an amp, it just doesn’t really sound good. It kinda backfired on me a bit on Friday but made it work.
I refreshed the board and removed one of the double trackers (while cool sounding, it wasn’t practical) and the IR-2. I replaced the one double tracker with the glorious JAM Delay Llama Xtreme and the IR-2 with the lovely Empress Comp MK2.
To continue with headphone playing, my approach is to simply keep the IR-2 off-board and run the whole damn thing through the effects loop. It’s good enough to practice at home!
I feel really pleased with this iteration! Big lesson learned that what I’m hearing in those headphones with the IR-2 is one thing - but I need to commit time to playing through an amp. I don’t think I could do a full ampless rig.
