Pc runs slow

I bought a PC a few years ago and I’m told by everyone I should be able to run most games I have that aren’t too demanding graphics or performance wise. For some reason it takes forever to launch the games or just doesn’t launch at all and my pc freezes at random times and just doesn’t perform the way I thought it would. Most games will freeze or just crash like most games I was able to play before aren’t able to be played at even low settings. I can answer any questions I’m just not too knowledgeable about computers. I’ve updated all the drivers I could find and updated my gpu last night so any advice would be super appreciated
