SSF flameblast inspiration

I'm looking for flameblast ideas, not necessarily straight up guides. I have an itch to play off meta garbage, my first 100 was ice trap done purely in maps so i have that slight preference for safe jank.

I've been looking at chrono, but then I can never justify going chrono since it's just... recoup and 2nd temp chains.

I don't want to go infernalist since it'll likely be patched by the time i find two mings.

Blood mage sounds good balance with crit option, big health option with progenesis, even bleed scaling for double dot. Not sure whats the best direction. Scared of mana costs.

Havent even looked at other ascendancies, maybe invoker could have something?

Gemling isnt likely good for ssf since gear is scarse.

I'm wondering if anyone played it, and could give me an idea how far I could take it and which direction I should steer into.
