Asked in sincerity: Seeing how deeply unpopular “Emilia Perez” is, wouldn’t the academy be dramatically more inclined to give BP to another movie?

No, this is not another post going on ad nauseam about how much a user hates EP or can’t understand the accolades given to it.

This said, we do know the film is obviously not a “Titanic”, “Silence of the Lamb”, “Oppenheimer” or “Forrest Gump” or “The Godfather”.

Seeing how badly the Oscars are seen by the general public outside of spaces like this, wouldn’t it behoove them to at least give it to a movie that, while not a big blockbuster crowd pleaser, is at least liked by a lot more people?

They know exactly what people are saying and despite the belief that they don’t care what the public thinks, of course they do. They want to be more cool.

So the way I see it, all the harsh negative reaction to EP can seriously hinder its chances. Why would the AMPAS go out of its way to give its biggest prize to a film so many people are aggressively negative to?
