Is it possible to defer my admittance into NUS after receiving an acceptance?

Hypothetically, I have not enough money and would not like to take any bank loans. Can I defer my admittance in this case, or in any case at all? If so, what penalties would be levied on me? And if they void my placing, will my A level results still be relevant the next year? (I got my A level results in 2019).
