House is 57 degrees 😮💨
Sigh. Just wanted to rant. Guess we’re waiting for the summer to get it fixed. Anyone’s going to want an arm, a leg, and first born now.
Nothing to trouble shoot to try and DIY fix. We had quotes last year - most places said 15k to do the work and install a combo tankless unit)
The tankless water system the previous owner installed is not approved for heating (it’s 2 separate tankless units)
I kept arguing the system isn’t approved by the manufacturer to heat a house, it even says it in the manual.
Hind sight is 20/20. Should have asked for seller funds in a trust account incase 80 degree baseboards don’t heat the house when we closed last summer. It wasn’t suggested to us due to a bathroom leak the seller “fixed” but was still leaking the day prior to closing.
Conservation and alternatives:
I already covered the doors with a blanket and have the blinds closed.
The skylights? Can’t do anything about. Too tall in the lofted ceiling.
But at that point, is it better to install a mini-split? They’re about 10k and could heat and cool.
I’m afraid the pipes would bust if the basement area gets no heat.
