VXLAN vs GRE

Hello All!

I have been doing some research and tinkering with VXLAN, but I am still a little unsure as the its differences vs. GRE. From what I've found online so far it seems that VXLAN uses multicast while GRE does not. It also seems to be related to hashing performance over ECMP.

I would love to hear some real-world experience detailing the differences between the two protocols.
