is our kid doomed or are people just careless?

I’m currently pregnant with a boy, and due next month. When picking a name my husband was adamant that it could not be a highly rated name. For context, his is Matthew and he said it’s a nightmare trying to order coffee because “three of us walk up to the counter at once.” So with that in mind, we were considering two options.

We ultimately chose Kieran Quinn. Both of us love the name. Friends and family had a good reaction to it. We told everyone how to spell his name too, and throughout this pregnancy I’ve been referring to the baby as Kieran. But now out of nowhere I’m noticing that people started slipping up and calling him Kiernan. I’ve already had to correct friends a few times, and he’s not even here yet. Is it an us problem, or will it be resolved when he’s physically here and people can actually see him?

ETA: okay some of y’all are hung up way too much on the whole coffee comment. That was to illustrate why my husband felt the desire to want our son to have a name that is not in the top ten names according to the USA social security website. For reference, the year my husband was born, Matthew was #3 in popularity for the ENTIRE country. I personally don’t think that asking your partner to consider names that aren’t within the top ten to be a crazy ask. Sorry if that makes us a couple of wackos and you disagree.

As for how we are pronouncing Kieran, we are pronouncing it like how Kieran Culkin’s name is pronounced.
