Video game recommendations based off your favorite musical!

Basically I’ll put the musical on the left and the game on the right!

Heathers - Class of ‘09 (Mature) Why: Similar vibes, both edgy satirical pieces set in a high school with a female lead. Not much needs to be said here lol

Dear Evan Hansen - Doki Doki Literature Club! (Mature) Why: Both center around high school boys who’d do some sketchy things for a girl’s love. The resemblances are actually quite funny. DDLC starts out simple and sweet, but the stakes raise the longer you play, just as Evan’s lie has higher consequences the longer he keeps it secret. Also both have some techy references and quirks, like the use of social media in DEH and (DDLC spoilers) Monika’s breaking of the fourth wall in DDLC.

Newsies - Detroit: Become Human (Mature) Why: DBH is basically a robot revolution against prejudiced people and leaders. It has lovable characters and high stakes, and has similar themes to Newsies. It makes you question what it means to be human.

Little Shop of Horrors - Little Nightmares Why: The titles are similar. Just kidding, that’s not all haha. Both are set in a grim universe with our protagonist being a sort of innocent light in the dark. They explore the themes of capitalism and greed, and what happens to laypeople when we’re under pressure from the higher ups. LN might not have a singing plant, but it certainly has a unique cast of monsters and toothy villains.

Fiddler on the Roof - OMORI (Mature) Why: Though these seem very outwardly different, both explore themes of love, loss, guilt, and lack of control. In Fiddler, we see a man trying his hardest to raise his daughters right in rough times. In OMORI, we see a teenage boy struggling with the loss of a loved one (OMORI spoilers) at his own hand and his battle to cope with it. I think these are different on the surface level, but have intrinsic similarities.

Beetlejuice - Until Dawn (Mature) Why: UD takes itself much more seriously than Beetlejuice, but I still think the similarities prevail. In both, we follow quirky characters in scary, supernatural situations. The stakes are higher in UD, where any and every character can die at any moment, but I still think the vibes and plot match up enough to pair with Beetlejuice.

Offer your own in the replies! I didn’t want to do any shows I haven’t seen or didn’t like, so I didn’t add a ton but I’d love to hear everyone else’s thoughts!
