Why doesnt rudy use wind magic more?

Like, why Rudy never actually develop his wind magic to speed himself up in battle or even create wind wall to give him space to cast magic non-stop with his unlimited mana pool? He could even use water magic to speed up like in ss1 ep4 against Paul. I feel kinda disappointed because rudy can only fight against others with Armor on but cant use magic to create space or speed up. Im only at vol 15 so I could be missing sth.
