SPOILER: Come to Daddy plot holes

Who was unzipping the dudes body bag? It couldn’t have been the bad guys because they didn’t know he was dead yet. Is this a plot hole?

Another plot hole: the bad guy opens his trunk, grabs a crossbow, then walks to the house. Elijah Wood then jumps in his trunk and shuts it behind him. Wouldn’t the dude notice his trunk was closed when returning to the car? Or put the crossbow back in the trunk when he found it? Also, how did Elijah get out of the trunk?
