i need to rant as an “advanced reader”
hi clarke!! i also “read” at 2 (i memorized a few picture books” and was in advanced reading classes in elementary school. went to a boarding school. earned a perfect score on the english section of the ACT. i have an english degree and went on to get a masters in a related field. which is how i know this is bs.
no third grader that is not a literal genius (not twitter genius!) is reading at a 12th grade level in 3rd grade. if i recall, around that time i was considered advanced for reading at a 6/7th grade level. 12th grade reading requires complex sentence structures, ideas, and grammatical framework that just is not digestible to the 3rd grade brain. it’s not completely impossible, but highly unlikely given what i’ve seen from her.
“Writing 12 books” is just also insane. She may have written 12 stories, but 12 complex 150 page (at least) novels is not realistic for an 8th grader if she truly was as involved in activities as she said she would. I used to write at a similar capacity at this age, and none of them would be long enough or complex enough for me to claim I wrote a book. And that includes my 175 page Victorious fan fiction.
“Prep school” and “college educated” does not translate to being a talented writer. I am both and know many who still struggle with basic writing concepts
anyone who truly engages with the literary or writing community would know first hand how terrible ai is for writers/creativity. thats a diff rant but still.
anyways i could say more but i just had to get that off my chest!!
