Beginning another journey
Hello all, I hope you are doing well.
I have decided that it is time that I started a new weight loss journey. As of this morning, I weigh 322.5 pounds. I never thought in a million years that I would get to this weight, but I’ve been in this state for months and I think it’s about time that I do something about it. My goal is to lose about 8 pounds per month until I reach a goal weight of 210 pounds. I have hit this weight before (although I was much lighter at the start of my previous weight loss journey), but ended up gaining it all back and then some due to poor eating habits and a particularly nasty bout of depression. I would appreciate some guidance to get started. I am a 6’2” tall 22 year old male.
Currently, my habits include eating little to no food all day until I get home from work, then I generally eat more than a day’s worth of calories in one big meal and almost always feel awful afterwards. I generally drink on the weekends as well, which is not helping my case. My plan is to drink protein shakes or eat Greek yogurt before leaving for work in the morning, pack a small, healthy lunch including things like tuna and fruit to eat at work, then eat a substantially smaller dinner every day. I am aiming for around 1,500 to 1,800 calories per day. I also plan to aim for 10,000 steps every day and go to the gym for roughly 1 hour split between weight training and cardio at least 3 times weekly. I also plan to limit my drinking to once or twice per month.
In the past, I have been able to commit to weight loss, but have tended to underestimate and lose weight too quickly to the point where I was getting lightheaded and nearly losing consciousness when standing up. I am concerned about falling into this cycle again. Does my plan sound realistic? Any help is greatly appreciated and I look forward to tracking my progress and building a better me.
