Taking Action Against (Suspected-ish) Large Scale Business Fraud?
Howdy!
During the process of personally (and successfully) investigating my moving company’s now proven illegal business practices, I believe I’ve uncovered a larger issue… After obsessive research I am fairly certain I found a group of individuals opening a moving company -> knowingly allowing their licensing to lapse and intentionally let themselves get shut down by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Association since the FMCSA gives them a specific date in the notification warning letters they send MONTHS in advance -> continue to do business up until X date stated by the FMCSA but they open another “new” company a few months before the current company is due to be closed and they begin to roll customers over to the “new” one before the official shut down… Rinse and repeat.
I have confidentially found 4 now but I believe there are 2 more, just haven’t finished digging into those. I also already know the next “new” business they “opened” as of last week. Based off all the reviews, I have ZERO doubt this small group of individuals will continue to monopolize the moving industry and screw people over…
Not only this but I also believe the moving brokerages are fully aware that it’s the same group of people aka the same company with a different name and despite all the complaints they receive from the customers and their awareness of the moving companies poor and/or illegal practices, they continue to use whichever one they come up with next. There are a few reasons I suspect this but I know for a fact that with each “new” moving company the brokerages have increased their commission %… If I can prove prove ALL of the above is true for the brokerages, that becomes a valid case for Negligence which would result in VOIDED contracts. Which I think means that not only could a customer sue the moving company itself, but then they could also just ask for a full refund (or whatever) from the brokerage as well - double whammy.
Oh, I can also confidently say that the majority of the moving company’s customers are EXCLUSIVELY coming through brokerages.
So I guess I just want to know what I should do with this information? I have them dead to rights for my own situation and will be getting my settlement from them BUT that will require me signing an agreement that I won’t pursue further action OR discuss anything publicly.
I’ve talked to quite a few other customers that used the moving company I did (to share some of what I know and help them out as well) and their stories are heartbreaking (lost boxes with family photo albums, missing family heirlooms, a single mom with 2 kids who can’t afford to replace the crib they smashed, etc.) BUT, once I found out about the companies they’ve previously been and Ive seen the horrific reviews on them, I’m even more infuriated. Tbh, Im chaotic good - so if I gotta walk away from my settlement to scream about this and get folks their bag or class action up, I will. just need someone to walk me through the approach here, so help?
