Medical mistake led to two-night stay in the hospital

I had an emergency appendectomy at my local hospital a few weeks ago. While I was waiting in the ER, the hospital drew two blood cultures. The hospital sent me home immediately after my appendectomy (around 2:00am). Later that day, around 3:00pm, the ER called at told me the blood cultures came back positive, and that I needed to head straight to the ER.

I did as I was told. They ran a bunch of tests (CT scan, more blood cultures) and admitted me. I stayed in the hospital for two nights and received around-the-clock antibiotics. They ended up concluding that the initial blood cultures were contaminated, either during the draw or in the lab. I was discharged.

The hospital stay was expensive and I missed two days of work. I didn't have a blood infection.

Do I have any recourse to not pay for the unnecessary hospital stay?
