Lenovo vs Macbook?

Hi there, looking for advice on my next laptop. I am a graduate student in class 40 hours a week and I mostly use the laptop for writing notes, emails, essays, browsing, watching videos, etc. I've been using my husband's Lenovo Yoga 7 and it's awesome, I have no complaints. I will admit I am not savvy with tech specifics especially when it comes to laptops, so I don't know what is "best" in this world. I do know that Macbooks are pretty niche and overpriced, but there are some good M1 refurbished options from Best Buy that I am checking out. I am a bit more drawn to the Macbook because of the macOS, the ability to basically have my phone on my laptop is quite a nice thought, however it's not necessary to me. I basically want to know what is going to be the best bang for my buck in the long run as a graduate student, and whether the Windows system vs the Mac system is generally better. Also, is it silly to get the exact same laptop as my husband or should we switch it up?
