Ratling SCARPER usage
I just wanted to get you guys's input about this, because how this is interpreted changes the use of the rule by essentially 50% extra usage :P
So regarding the Scarper faction rule for the new Ratling team, it reads like this:
"You cannot use this rule after consecutive enemy activations during the same turning point (in other words, after using this rule, you must skip the next opportunity during that turning point before you can use it again)."
Kill Team people on youtube seem to be in consensus that this means that you can only use it once every other enemy activation.
So an enemy activate -> Scarper -> you activate -> enemy activate - NO Scarper -> you activate -> enemy activate -> Scarper -> you activate.
I don't think this is correct and I think this can be used after each enemy activation where no group activation is used or you are out of activations while the enemy activate several in a row.
The keyword here is consecutive enemy activation.
Consecutive means enemy followed by an enemy. Not enemy followed by friendly followed by enemy...
Now, this is obviously countered by the "in other words, after using this rule, you must skip the next opportunity during that turning point before you can use it again", but this might just be a very weird way of trying to emphasize the group activation part, but that they just failed miserably in that regard and made two contradicting statements instead of making things clearer.
What do you guys think?
Update thanks to Tetrao:
He made a really good point (and now we really are digging VERY deep on how the exact wording is lol) and while I actually think it might have been intended to prevent two scarpers during group activations (guess we might find out in an errata in the future or something), but as rules are written, it does indeed cater towards every OTHER activation in BOTH sentences.
Tetrao:
"It’s about as complicated as playing kill team on two consecutive Saturdays. There are other days in between, but you’ve specified saturdays, not weekdays.
Same thing here, we specify enemy activations, not activations in general. Their first and second activation might not be consecutive activations, but they are consecutive enemy activations."
Of course, one could still make the case that consecutive enemy activations actually was worded that way for group activations, because "consecutive enemy activation" technically doesn't stop at the number 2 (yes I know the second phrase enforces this). Every enemy activation after the first activation is a consecutive enemy activation.
Kind of really wished they just said "You cannot use this rule after every other enemy activation." and then that would be it lol
