final round blues

I continue to make it to final rounds with companies only to get rejected or even worse ghosted. I've tried asking for feedback, considered different approaches, but same result. I've never been out of work my whole career until now and I don't know if its the market, the black eye of being out of work or whatever. People seem to get along with me well, but it never translates into getting picked or sometimes its apparent I'm a backup option. I just don't get it. This isn't an inability to get past initial resume screenings, phone screenings, first/second round calls. I wind up wasting hours and hours, including multi hour onsite interviews for the final round even flying out in some cases and still no offer.

It used to be anyone mid career with experience was sought after now it seems like they're allergic to me.
