Do I tell them?
Today, I have the last of six interviews for a senior technical sales role. I have to present the company’s product to a panel of fellow techies.
I have literally spent 8-10 hours a day, for the last week, rereading the brief, perfecting my slides, installing an instance of their software in my home lab and working on my “story script”
Part of the reason it’s taken so much effort is that the install guide on their website appears to contain errors. I simply could not get the software to work.
Out of desperation, I paid a 3 figure sum to upgrade my trial software to a full license in order to get access to their tech support team, and duly opened a ticket.
Before TS could get back to me, I found the error and fixed it myself.
I’ve been wondering if I should any mention this in the interview? On one hand I don’t want to criticise their documentation, but on the other, I think this demonstrates commitment and initiative.
