Why is Hyderabad not pedestrian friendly?
Almost all the junctions and roads in Hyderabad have no pedestrian bridges. Coming from Kerala, one thing I admire about Hyd is the wide roads (excellent compared to Kerala standards), but it is insanely risky to cross this wide road. People drive like crazy and won't even stop on red signal. I had countless near death experience crossing through zebra lines while the signal is red.
A foot overbridge over major junctions would be an excellent addition and would be safe for pedestrians. Busy junctions like Gachibowli, DLF, and Wipro (and most other places) don't have a safe way to cross. I wish the government would take on the initiative to construct more foot overbridges and we as a community ask more from the government.
PS: My experiences are more around the Gachibowli, HITEC City, ISB area, but the situation would be more or less similar I guess.
