How to get rid of roaches in California?
What is the best method to get rid of roaches in California?
I’m pretty sure I found two roaches in my kitchen today. I am terrified of them because when I was a kid I Iived in a country where they were VERY LARGE and would come in under the doors when it would rain.
So, this is the third time this happened. Once, about a month ago, I moved the air fryer and found a bug. I thought it looked like a roach, but it was just one. I thought, I must be something else, it’s just one. About a week later, my son had the same experience. I just happened to not have used the air fryer in the mean time. Today I moved it and there were two! I sprayed them with the first chemical spray I saw, a household cleaner with bleach, but an off brand that sucks. The bugs kept moving and escaped, despite being drenched in “bleach cleaner.”
As I said, I am terrified of roaches. What do I do? I’m a renter. Do I call a pest control company? Or is this something I can resolve by putting out that bait that looks a bit like peanut butter? I’m sclared to go in my kitchen now.
For reference, my kitchen does often have dirty dishes in the sink. Not over flowing, I just am not great at loading the dishwasher immediately. I take out my trash regularly. I have not seen these bugs near the trash, in the recycling, or on the counter at night (you know, you flip the light on and they scatter.). Only near/under the air fryer. And only one, then one, then two. So there’s no infestation … yet.
I need to nip this in the bud, ASAP!
Please, no comments about “BE CLEANER!” Roaches stay if you’re untidy, but that’s not how you get them in the first place. They have to be introduced to your space. They don’t just appear out of thin air if you’re often untidy in the kitchen.
I live in a single family home. No neighbors that I share walls with. My neighborhood is clean. The space around the exterior of my home is clean. The interior of my home is clean. I’m just not that great at doing the dishes immediately. I often have things delivered to my home though, perhaps a bug hitch hiked in a box. My area is not tropical. I’ve never had this issue before in the US. I was traveling in Africa, 30 years ago, when I had my other experiences with the bugs.
