Gay Upstate close to NYC
Hi Folks! My partner and I run a queer cannabis delivery service in NYC. We’d like to invest in land upstate that isn’t too far from the city, since we’re still pretty hands on managing our business here.
It’d be great to buy a house, but we’re mainly interested in buying land. Particularly land that allows RVs so we can avoid the bureaucracy of building and so the purchase of the plot could be more affordable. We also both have experience building with cob/strawbale/mud houses so we’d be open to building an off-grid cabin using those skills on land we purchase!
We’re looking for something that: (1) isn’t too far from the city (no more than 3 hours ideally) (2) is LGBT friendly— doesn’t have to have lgbt bars or anything but needs to not be so conservative. The business we run is called “Dank Dykes” and we’d hate to go from NYC where we are surrounded by folks of a similar understanding to a second home that makes us feel like we have to hide our identities. (3) isn’t crazy expensive. We love Woodstock but thinking anywhere to close to the Hudson is going to drain our savings and put us in a position where we wouldn’t be able to do anything with the land after purchasing it. (4) is open to RVs, homesteading, more rural Ways of life. We’re looking for 2-5 acres ideally. So larger lots and nothing to close to a city. (5) of course, we want the best of both worlds— not too far from the city so that we have to drive 30 mins for food. Places with active farmers markets or grocery stores is ideal for us.
I’ve been looking into Wurtsboro, Ellensville, Wawarsing, Jefferson and Stamford. Any feedback on these places or any additional recommendations we should be looking into?
And hey! If I move to your county, let’s connect :-) any and all feedback is appreciated! Thanks in advance <3
