Framework's impact on the broader laptop industry: are we already seeing the first signs?

Ever since Framework launched its first laptop, I have always been a fan of the idea. I also remember that some of the initial discussion on the Framework 13 mentioned the fact that it would be a very desirable side-effect if the entire laptop industry followed Framework's trends and would make their devices more repairable as a result.

I have been cautiously optimistic on this, but it does appear that other companies have already started to follow suit: first, a couple years ago, HP made their Elitebook line more upgradable (RAM, WLAN, SSD) in a response to the Framework 13. Now, Lenovo has just announced their new ThinkPad T-series lineup, which is much more repairable. A couple of generations ago, Lenovo had completely lost their mind and began soldering everything except an SSD on their laptops, even going as far as gluing down the screen! The collective internet wisdom had declared the T series dead, as everything that made it special was gone. So, this is already a nice improvement.

Personally, I think there is a healthy does of "repair - washing" to this, and it's clearly an attempt to catch up to Framework in this respect. Just a few replaceable parts goes nowhere near what Framework is doing, and whether replacement parts will be and stay available long-term and for accessible prices is a mystery. My personal advice of course stays don't buy these, stick to Framework, the company that has an actual track record in right to repair, and frankly the only manufacturer that deserves your trust and money at this point in time.

With that out of the way, what do you think about this? I am really torn. In a way, this is good news because it shows that we won, and Framework is disruptive enough that it's giving the rest of the industry a good shake as well. But I hope that people will still keep buying Framework and will not immediately switch to thinking that Lenovo/HP/Dell/whomever is just as repairable because now the RAM is socketed instead of a row of chips and other minor changes that don't scratch the surface of what Framework does.
