Anorak, Mack vest and Double Mack Cap field review.

I’ve had the charcoal Anorak for a few months but haven’t had much opportunity to use it much. Today I did a hike in Rocky Mountain National Park. I think the temps were probably in the mid 20s but the wind was absolutely brutal. I imagine probably around 50mph gusts. A handful of trees were down on the trail. I bet the windchill was probably -20 at times. My mustache froze to my zipper on my anorak several times almost instantly. I wore an Arc’teryx base layer with an icebreaker 250 under the anorak for a good portion the of the hike. I also wore the double Mack shearling hat. I was pleasantly surprised at how warm I was given the conditions. I was also doing intense aerobic excercise in snow shoes but really couldn’t believe how warm I was staying. When I got close to a lake called the Loch I had to put on my Mack vest which helped immensely because the wind at that point was so strong it almost blew me over several times. At this point I could really feel the wind cut through the wool on both garments. I had a arcteryx puffy but I was afraid if I took off my gloves I would lose further feeling and have a hard time operating my zippers. These items matched up were a phenomenal combo and a hard shell over the top would have been pretty bombproof.
